There are two very different definitions of wealth; One originates in the world and sadly most people follow this idea of wealth and there is biblical wealth, which is a wealth originating in God and defined in the scriptures.
The world defines wealth as the abundance of valuable financial assets or physical possessions which can be converted into a form that can be used for transactions. However this is not what the bible teaches us about wealth, not even close. So if you’re ready to learn about biblical wealth than please read on.
BIBLICAL WEALTH IS GOD’S WEALTH
All wealth comes from God, belongs to God, honors God, and is a blessing from God. When we embrace that wealth is God’s instead of our own we will be equipped to manage it. Managing your wealth Biblically calls for wisdom. We are called to honor God with all that we do, including the management of the wealth that He has so graciously bestowed.
And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you the power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. – Deuteronomy 8:18
The earth is the LORD’S, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein. – Psalm 24:1
WHAT IS BIBLICAL WEALTH FOR?
If you noticed in Deuteronomy 8:18 the power to get wealth was to establish the covenant. In other words God gives us the power to get wealth and the blessing of wealth to advance the work of God in our lives, community and world. Its wealth with a purpose, a kingdom purpose.
The term Biblical Wealth is a loaded term. Those who have gained wealth have also gained great responsibility to take care of that wealth, along with taking care of family, the church, and the less fortunate. This wealth is intended to provide for people, support ministries, feeding the hungry, clothing needy, educating the helpless and protecting the innocent. These things are what the church and Christians, are called to do.
….And the King will answer and say to them, Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of theseMy brethren, you didi it to Me. – Matthew 25:40
HOW IS THIS WEALTH OBTAINED?
This may be startling to you. Wealth the bible tells us should not be chased, and sought after as the most important thing in your life. We are taught to “seek first the kingdom of God, And His righteousness”…..followed b some wisdom from King Solomon.
How much better to get wisdom than gold, And to get understanding to be chosen rather than silver. Proverbs 16:16
Gold and silver are the wealth of kings and princes. Today they are stores of value and signs of great wealth. It is however important to notice the value and the wealth of understanding and divine wisdom are far more valuable.
People all over the planet are chasing riches and wealth. Many who have reached even great amounts of wealth in the worlds standards find their life empty and a drift. And many will never find true wealth until the desire for biblical wealth becomes ones deep desire.
Get wisdom, get understanding. Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom, And in all your getting, get understanding. Proverbs 4:5,7
Wealth, the true wealth that comes from God is aligned with divine values, wisdom and understanding. Rarely does wealth just falls into one’s lap. God’s blessing of wealth is usually obtained by great wisdom and responsibility and through discipline, hard work, saving, investing, and seeking God’s will.
WHAT NOW?
Are you ready to manage God’s wealth for His glory instead of yours? Are you ready to see how all financial decisions are actually spiritual decisions? Those with Biblical Wealth see their wealth as an opportunity to manage what God has blessed them with.
We are not owners of our wealth, we are not owned by our wealth, and we are commanded to allow wealth to flow through us to bless others.
