While listening to a sermon or church leadership address issues, have you ever wondered, is that in the Bible? Can your pastor or church leadership explain what they do and why they do it according to the Bible? Can they say, “This is That?”
But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: – Acts 2:16
Unfortunately, today, there are a great many things taking place within Christianity that are not Christian. The deciding factor isn’t a person’s opinion but what the Bible says. The sign on the building may say “Church,” but if what is practiced and taught does not align with the Bible, is it a Christian Church? Why would Jesus, the Head of the Church contradict what His word says to the church? Point blank the answer is He wouldn’t.
Warning to Believers
Jesus warned the disciples and continues to warn us in His Word about wolves in sheep’s clothing. Paul the Apostle warned the Elders in Ephesus, “After my departure, “Savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. Also, from among yourselves, men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.” (Acts 20:29,30)
What is vitally important is a return to Biblical Christianity. Unfortunately today many Christians attending church are without or are lacking spiritual discernment. Many are easily fooled and led astray by the savage wolves Paul is taking about. The people of God need to get into the Bible for themselves. It is time to grow closer to God by spending time and opening your heart to the Word of God.
Can Your Leadership say “This is That’?
God’s Spirit fell on Pentecost in our Acts 2 passage. The Lord worked a miracle and the religious critics which the Spirit of God bypassed said the disciples were drunk. Peter, however, was able to address the activity with a direct quote from the scriptures themselves. You see if your pastor or church leadership can’t back-up statements and or action with scripture then you are at risk of very dangerous teaching.
Prayer:
I pray that your Church leadership and pastor can say like Peter who explained the activity in question by saying “This that we are doing, is That which was written in the scriptures.” I also pray that if they can’t you will recognize you’re in a danger. Confront the leadership and pray about what other actions you may need to take as the Lord leads.
The time is now to return to Biblical Christianity and begins with you.
