The world tells us to be materialistic and to hold on to all the money and things we have with a tight fist. We’re told we must keep as much for ourselves as we possibly can. But the Bible tells us “God Owns It All” as believers we are stewards. We are to be generous, rich in good works and ready to share.

The Bible has over 2,000 verses on money, making it one of the most discussed topics in the entire text. From the Old Testament to the New, the Bible lays out very clear principles for money and for the stewardship of God’s resources. However many people forget to include such principles in their planning. I strongly believe it is vital to integrate them into every aspect of our financial advice.

..Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. – 1st Corinthians 6:19,20

The earth is the LORD’S and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein. – Psalm 24:1

Every good and perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation of shadow of turning. – James 1:17

The core principle of a biblical perspective on money is that “God owns it all.” If God owns it all, we are simply stewards of his blessings and resources. Consider the parable of the talents in the gospel of Matthew 25:14-30. Even a new believer reading this parable can see this important Kingdom principal. We are accountable to God for how we have put to work the resources He has provided.
