Serving God is an honor that I believe every believer has the opportunity to do.
How will you serve God? Where and in what capacity will you serve God I do not know, but what I do know is over the years I have learned a few things about serving Jesus and I’d like to share Three of them with you from 1 Chronicles Chapter Fifteen.
Serve God, His Way
It seems like we shouldn’t have to say it but serving God is about Him, not you or me. It’s about what God desires to do, with whom He desires to do it with, where He desires to do it and how He desires to do it. Our part is to serve Him, His way.

In 1 Chronicles 15:13 David says “For, because you did not do it the first time ( he means follow Gods explicit instructions because you didn’t ask Him ), the LORD our God broke out against us because we did not consult Him about the proper order.”
God is a God of order and if you and I do not consult God by seeking His Word, praying and seeking the mind of God in a matter we may end up though we are serving Him, we may end up serving Him in a way that God actually comes against us.

In 1 Chronicles 15:15 we see the right people, doing the right thing, in the right way. That is what God wants. It’s a privilege to serve and it’s an amazing honor to be part of what God is doing. Yet, the pivotal point is this… we must inquire of God what God desires for our role in His work to be. And to go a step further make sure we must ask the how and the when too.
Serve God, Joyfully
In 1 Chronicles 15:16 “Then David spoke to the leaders of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers accompanied by instruments of music,…by raising the voice with resounding joy.”
Serving God is not a “must do” it’s a “Get To” Psalm 100:2 says to “Serve the Lord with gladness.”
We’ve all seen them, you know, the grumpy servants of God complaining about the burden they carry. The ones who seemingly can’t even muster up a smile. I suggest if that describes you, you re-read the first point and examine all that you’re doing and get in tune with the Spirit of God. You may find it’s time to remove some of the items on your to-do list and that is okay because you’ll also find the burden lifted, your heart smiling and your service to God both joyful and more focused.

Serve God, Enthusiastically
1 Chronicles 15:28,29 “All Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting and with the sound of the horn.”
Don’t you just love this enthusiastic procession, all the people praising God for this magnificent thing that He has accomplished here in Chronicles, it is true there are times of silence, sorry and heaviness of heart in our lives. But there should also be times of celebration and praise for the great things that God has done, is doing and in faith praising Him for the great things that He will do.
Serving God is a great privilege and an amazing honor when we are serving Him His Way, Joyfully and Enthusiastically.
