Blessedness of Obedience

“For I have known him, ( Abraham ) in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice…” – Genesis 18:19

“If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word…He who does not love Me does not keep My word.” – John 14:23,24

*Obedience is the law of spiritual growth and blessedness. The Christian life, after all, comes to this – how much will you obey Christ? If you refuse, you shut yourself out of His best, for He can do nothing for you or with you. But if you surrender yourself to obey, there is no limit to the usefulness and blessedness that must ensue.

How can we live like this you ask? We must abide in Him, stay connected to Jesus in close personal fellowship, allowing His words by meditation and prayer, to abide in us and working in us and of course through us. Then each day little, by little we will indeed be living as Paul the Apostle stated from glory to glory. And interestingly enough, obedience becomes less an effort and more the fruit of an abundant, intimate, faithful life with Christ.
